The head of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, received Congolese singer, songwriter, and producer Ferre Gola in his office on Monday, June 5, 2023. The artist praised the minister’s work in his sector and thanked the President of the Republic and Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for his vision of free primary education in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, before pledging his support in this area.

I came to meet with Minister Tony Mwaba, first to thank him for the work he has done and second to help spread the message about free primary education, given that in rural areas there are mothers who are unable to send their children to school, even though free primary education is indeed available. So we are here to spread this message, said Ferre Gola.

The artist shared that during his childhood, education was free, and today, thanks to the President of the Republic and the leadership of the Minister of Basic Education, Primary Education is once again free and is being consolidated in all public schools across the country, thereby easing the burden on families who were previously unable to send their children to school. Therefore, he called on parents to send their primary-school-aged children to school so they can benefit from this reform, which applies to Congolese people from all walks of life, both within the country and in schools abroad.

To support free education in a practical way, Ferre Gola promised Professor Tony Mwaba that he would compose an educational song so that the message reaches every corner of the Republic.

I believe I have proposed to His Excellency the Minister a song to accompany the President of the Republic’s initiative in the EPST sub-sector, which is also a way to support Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi for the progress he is making in the field of education. And this song is also meant to encourage parents to send their children to school, because I believe that the future lies in education, and the Congo of tomorrow lies in its youth, he said.
