During his visit to the United Arab Emirates, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, is participating in the World Conference on Cultural and Arts Education, which is being held from February 13 to 15, 2024, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. This event, which brings together ministers of culture and education from around the world, aims to adopt a UNESCO Framework for Cultural and Arts Education.
This framework, currently under development, is the result of a participatory and inclusive preparatory process involving numerous UNESCO Member States and a wide range of stakeholders. Once adopted, this framework will serve as an essential tool for Member States to develop integrated policies that incorporate the cultural dimension into education systems, while simultaneously strengthening the skills and competencies acquired through culture and the arts to address the needs and opportunities of today’s world.
The global conference will also feature the participation of other United Nations organizations, intergovernmental organizations, UNESCO networks, and other partners in the fields of culture and education, with the aim of sharing innovative practices and ideas, as well as strengthening a global alliance for cultural and arts education, building on the Roadmap for Arts Education and the Seoul Agenda.
