In a press release, No. MINEPST/CABMIN/016/2022, dated November 14, 2022, the Minister of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, issued firm instructions to the Provincial Chief Inspectors (IPP), urging them to take the necessary measures to eradicate bribery during this period when the review of final candidates’ files for the State Exam, 2023 edition across all secondary schools in the Republic—an act he equates with the negative values plaguing his sub-sector. “The information in my possession indicates that bribery is involved in this activity, which is, however, part of the normal duties of a traveling inspector,” the minister noted. Professor Tony Mwaba, who is keeping a close watch, promises to track down repeat offenders to their last hideout, in line with his policy aimed at reforming the EPST subsector through the fight against all forms of unethical practices and the perpetuation of free primary education throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The minister also urged parents and students to abandon this practice and to report any recalcitrant inspectors or school principals, who will be punished in accordance with the law.
