In an official statement, No. MINEPST/CABMIN/007/2022, dated July 22, 2022, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, announced an adjustment to the free education allowance for primary school teachers.
"The Government of the Republic has decided to increase the free education allowance granted to the 372,900 teachers in public primary schools by 67%, effective with the July 2022 paycheck," the minister wrote.
The head of the EPST further clarified that this additional measure in favor of teachers is an instruction from the President of the Republic and Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, in accordance with the commitments made by the national executive in the addendum to the Bibwa Memorandum of Understanding resulting from the joint Government - EPST Union Bench, signed on November 19, 2021, at Mbwela Lodge in Kisantu, in the province of Kongo-Central.
