Refusing to rest, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST) was out on the streets again on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, to get a firsthand look at the learning conditions of Congolese students. This time, the head of the EPST took the administrators, staff, and students of Prince de la Paix Middle School—located in the Binza Pompage neighborhood of the Ngaliema district—by surprise. Minister Tony Mwaba Kazadi was welcomed by the Management Committee in the presence of officials from the Lukunga Educational Province. A 9th-grade student from the Humanities track, who read the welcome message to the minister, expressed the school’s heartfelt gratitude. In her remarks, the student particularly praised the visionary leadership and its achievements in the EPST sub-sector in promoting educational quality as well as other reforms. Although it is a private school, the students of Collège Prince de la Paix, through their representative, thanked the Head of State, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, for implementing free primary education in public schools as well as for the reforms carried out to improve the quality of education in the DRC. At the end of his inspection visit, the minister could not hide his admiration for the sustainability and comfort in which the children at this school learn. It should be noted that this school has more than 18 classrooms, including a modern computer lab and a fully equipped teachers’ lounge. Moise Dianyishayi
