The Inspector General (IG) of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Odia Musungayi, held a working meeting with the vice principal of Boyokani High School, located in Kinshasa Kalamu. School officials had complained about the "seriousness" of the work involved in grading and publishing the results of this year’s State Exam (EXETAT) following several irregularities they had observed. Following the meeting with the head of the school inspection in the DRC, Odia Musungayi, it turned out that school officials had been using last year’s code instead. This is what the Inspector General stated on Thursday, August 24, to the Communication Management Directorate of the Ministry of EPST (DGC-EPST). "They used last year’s code. We were with them in front of the computer, and they admitted it," said the Inspector General. He added, "People can calm down. There is no reason to panic. This code is almost permanent. When you’re given 352, it stays the same even for 1,000 years. However, 352 in 2020 is not 352 in 2023. Because the first two digits refer to the province, which doesn’t change. The last three digits are the center’s order, and the third digit is the option, which also doesn’t change. Then you have the school’s order within the center, which can change. That’s where she got confused. We were (exceptionally) with her at the computer; her candidates passed... we have 17/30, 18/28, and there’s one option that scored zero—it’s not our fault.” As a reminder, Boyokani High School in Kinshasa Kalamu filed an appeal with the Inspector General of the EPST to highlight several technical irregularities calling into question the integrity of the work done by the National Exetat Correction Center. According to the letter signed by the school principal and the president of the school’s parent committee, the 14-digit codes assigned to candidates this year either correspond to the identities of their students from last year or to unknown identities.
