ENAFEP 2023 : The educational province of Haut-Katanga 1 registers 50.2% of girls against 49.8% of boys

The 2023 National Primary School Graduation Exam began this Thursday, June 1, across the entire country, as well as at two testing centers located outside the country’s borders, and will run through Friday, June 2. In Haut-Katanga Province, Vice Governor Jean-Claude Kamfwa kicked off the exams at Hodari High School in Ruashi, in the Lubumbashi 3 subdivision. Unlike in previous years, the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province has more girls than boys taking the exam, with girls accounting for 50.2% and boys for 49.8%. The number of girls, who were previously excluded from the education system due to lack of resources, has now increased thanks to free education. “Our Haut-Katanga 1 educational province has 141,414 final-year primary school students this year, including 70,987 girls (50.2%) and 70,427 boys (49.8%). The increase in the number of students in the final year of primary school is the result of the free education policy enacted by the President of the Republic, which the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education oversees,” stated the provincial chief inspector, Nicolas Nyange Bizy. The director of the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province, Joseph Mwinkeu Tshiend, also praised the efforts made by the Head of State and his determination to ensure the implementation of free primary education in public schools. Immediately following these remarks, the vice-governor encouraged the graduating students shortly before officially declaring the start of the exam. On this occasion, education authorities and national supervisors visited several ENAFEP testing centers in the city of Lubumbashi to encourage the candidates. The final-year students from the Haut-Katanga 1 educational province are spread across 356 testing centers. On this first day, the final-year students were tested on French and general knowledge.
