In a firm tone, the Secretary General for Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), instructed the director of the Mont-Amba educational province and the provincial chief inspector to summon the various individuals involved in the incident that led to the arrest of this 62-year-old teacher.
This occurred during a meeting held at the school with officials from the educational province and Bérée School on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
It should be noted that the incident took place at a hotel in Kinshasa. This secondary school teacher at Bérée School was caught with the 15-year-old student by police officers on Saturday, November 19.
After hearing from all parties, the Secretary General determined that this was a case of sexual exploitation and abuse.
To that end, she instructed the provincial director to summon all those involved in the incident that led to the teacher’s arrest, as well as to verify the facts alleged by all parties in order to determine responsibilities ranging from the school to the parents.
It should be noted that the alleged perpetrator was handed over to the police two days after the incident, again on the instructions of Secretary General Christine Nepa Nepa, who stated that she expects the letter of his permanent dismissal to be on her desk before the end of this week.
This decision is part of the Ministry of EPST’s efforts to ensure an inclusive and safe school environment for all students.
