Payroll for N.U. secondary school teachers announced for April 2023

Teachers known as “New Units,” who work in secondary schools, may receive their salaries from the public treasury in April 2023.   This marks the start of the second quarter of the year in terms of budget implementation. In preparation for the April 2023 payroll, the National Directorate for Teacher Oversight and Payroll (Dinacope, formerly SECOPE) was awaiting the submission of lists of unpaid inspectors, primary school “New Units” teachers who replaced retirees, and certified lists of secondary schools that were unpaid in February 2022, by March 7, 2023, at the latest.   “Indeed, this directive is of the utmost urgency. It is linked to the regularization of the salary situation for this category of staff,” recalls the Director and Head of Department at DINACOPE.   Thanks to the policy of free primary education, advocated by President Félix Tshisekedi Tshilombo upon his arrival as head of state and in accordance with Article 43 of the Constitution, the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has embarked on the process of regularizing the status of so-called “New Units” teachers.   It should be noted that two years ago, nearly 40,000 secondary school “New Units” teachers were still awaiting the regularization of their salary status.   Following the rounds in October 2020, June 2021, and April 2022—which primarily benefited elementary and preschool teachers—April 2023 could bring smiles back to the faces of a group of secondary school teachers.   Deborah Kabuya
