Jean Marie Mvunzi Mbemba, director of the Kinshasa-Tshangu Educational Province (PROVED), presided over the opening ceremony of the second annual performance review on Wednesday, August 2, in the multipurpose hall of Sainte Germaine High School in N’djili. Several education stakeholders from this jurisdiction are participating in this workshop, which is themed “Improving the Quality of Education Through Good Governance.” In his speech, the director of the Tshangu Educational Province began by explaining how the Operational Action Plan (OAP) is designed—a document used to measure the performance of every entity from the grassroots level to the top of the educational province. Serge Mbondeli, speaking on behalf of the NGO YMAE, which works in the field of education, emphasized the need for integrity on the part of teachers. “Educators should know that beyond being a value, education is also a right. Children enrolled in educational institutions are entitled to the right to education, and this right is protected by several instruments," he noted. Note that this event will take place from August 2 to 4, 2023. The purpose of this meeting is to evaluate achievements against the objectives set last year, analyze needs in relation to the school map, and review documentation and information regarding the implementation of reforms and directives received from the sub-sector. This is to ensure better planning for the upcoming school year. It also serves to identify the needs within an educational province for the entity’s development plan. Deborah Kabuya & Richard Dumby
