The review of the 2024–2028 five-year roadmap was the focus of the meeting held on Tuesday, January 23, chaired by the head of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, in his office, in the presence of the Secretary General, the Inspector General, the National Director of DINACOPE, and several of the minister’s advisors. The objective: to improve the quality of education in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

During the meeting, the floor was first given to the National Director of DINACOPE, Papy Mangobe Moleka, to present the 2024–2028 five-year roadmap, with several activities for the first quarter of 2024 reviewed. He noted that this document specifically requires updating the mapping of payroll sites in areas where banks are not present; and utilizing solutions offered by new information and communication technologies for the payment of teachers’ salaries and the operating costs of primary schools and administrative offices.

Speaking next, the Secretary General of the EPST, Christine Nepa Nepa Kabala, reiterated the directive requiring school administrators to use the database for teacher assignments in the event of vacancies.

For his part, the Inspector General of the EPST, Jacques Odia Musungayi, emphasized that teacher recruitment will be merit-based, starting with the upcoming competitive exams, in order to establish a database of successful teacher candidates. Student enrollment will be based on admission tests.

Following these discussions, the 2024–2028 five-year roadmap was partially adopted, pending the presentation of the activities of the General Secretariat and the General Inspectorate of the EPST, scheduled for the next meeting set for this Thursday, January 25.
