EPST teachers' pay still goes to the bank as usual

The Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Tony Mwaba Kazadi, has never confirmed that teachers’ salaries will now be processed by public accountants. This information, spread among the public by unreliable sources, is likely to mislead teachers, especially during this election season. The EPST Minister’s communications office also acknowledges that every expert is free to offer opinions aimed at improving the teacher payroll system. “These are thoughts voiced aloud by experts in the sub-sector to improve the teacher payroll system, especially in areas where certain banks are experiencing difficulties,” the statement reads. Minister Tony Mwaba would like to see the Caisse d'Epargne du Congo (CADECO) replace certain banks that are inefficient for this purpose, rather than favoring payroll processing by public accountants. "Especially since this decision overlaps with other ministries, including the Ministry of Finance, which designates payroll operators," reads a statement from Minister Tony Mwaba’s office. It should be noted that this clarification refutes reports circulating in the media in recent days, according to which Minister Tony Mwaba allegedly confirmed through a union representative that teachers’ salaries would henceforth be processed by public accountants.
