Competition to recruit elementary school teachers and principals: Registration runs from February 10 to 21

The Ministry of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST) has issued a call for applications for the recruitment competition for teachers and principals of public elementary schools for a pilot phase that will run from March 4 to March 8. This pilot phase will apply only to the subdivisions of Kinshasa and the Matadi 1 and 2 subdivisions of Kongo Central. Other subdivisions in the provinces of Kasaï Central and Kongo Central will open the call for applications next Monday to hold the recruitment exam from March 11 to 15. For registration, which is already open and runs from February 10 to 21, interested candidates must complete the online form at www.concoursenseignants.com or in person at the subdivision office. The application package must include a resume, a copy of the diploma (or EPST transcript), a cover letter, and a copy of an ID. Here are the admission criteria for the teacher recruitment process: - Be a Congolese citizen; - Be at least 18 years old and no older than 35; - Hold one of the following degrees: - State Diploma – Education track - IFME (Institute for Teacher Training) - Diploma from a higher education institution specializing in education. As for the principal candidate: - Must be a Congolese national; - Must be at least 25 years old; - be a teacher with a DINACOPE/SECOPE number; - have seven (7) years of continuous experience as a primary school teacher; - hold the State Diploma – Pedagogy track, or the IFME (Institute for Teacher Training) diploma, or a diploma from a higher education institution specializing in education. Additionally, candidates are required to provide an active phone number to receive notification of admission to the competitive exam during the period from February 22 to 24, 2024. To be eligible, teacher candidates must possess the following competencies: - Competencies for active citizenship; - ⁠Knowledge of human rights in general and children’s rights in particular; - ⁠Knowledge of classroom management; - ⁠Ability to collaborate effectively with the school community; - ⁠Knowledge of school environment safety; - ⁠Skills in change management; - ⁠Knowledge of information and communication technologies; - ⁠Knowledge of gender (GBV, EAS/HS) and social inclusion; - ⁠Knowledge of the environment and sustainable development. For their part, candidates for the position of principal must possess skills related to active citizenship; - knowledge of human rights in general and children’s rights in particular; - knowledge of educational and financial management of a school; - effective communication; - Team management; - Change management as well as knowledge of information and communication technologies; - Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Teachers; - MGP and knowledge of Gender (VBG, EAS/HS) and social inclusion, as well as knowledge of the environment and sustainable development. The candidate for teacher or principal must also be fluent in French and the national language of the assignment area and have knowledge of English. It should be noted that the competitive examination is eliminatory and consists of two stages: the written examination and the professional practice test.
