Early in the evening of Wednesday, January 25, the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST), Professor Tony Mwaba Kazadi, arrived in the city of Boma, in Kongo-Central Province. He received a magnificent welcome at the city’s entrance from stakeholders in his sub-sector, students, and members of his political party, the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS).

A sea of people intercepted Minister Tony Mwaba’s motorcade upon his arrival in Boma, a crowd that honored him for his steadfast efforts to revitalize the EPST subsector by combating all forms of anti-values and to ensure the sustainability of free primary education, a policy implemented by the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who is committed to ensuring that all school-age children in the country receive an education.

Pleased by the gesture, the head of the EPST felt compelled to step out of his jeep to thank the people of Boma, who had turned out in droves to welcome him with great fanfare. Upon arrival, students presented him with a bouquet of flowers to welcome him to the city.

Professor Tony Mwaba then walked several kilometers to mingle with the crowd, which was singing in his honor and chanting the name of the head of state—a way of expressing gratitude to the man who made primary education free.

Immediately afterward, the head of the EPST and his delegation set off in a motorcade to head to the hotels where they will be staying during their visit to Boma.

In this city, Minister Tony Mwaba has planned several activities, including a major meeting with inspectors from all the educational provinces of Kongo-Central, as part of the revitalization of school inspection to improve the quality of learning—a measure that must necessarily accompany the reform of free education.
